Sanur is a former fishing village on the east coast of Bali, about 30 min. from the airport, 45 minsfrom Ubud. Compared to some other trendy places in Bali it is a bit quieter and you won’t find many fancy beach clubs or night clubs here. What you will find though, unlike in many other places, is a beautiful beach with a nice walking/cycling path with many restaurants and little shops alongside it. Perfect to go cycling with an ebike.
A great way to spend some quality time overlooking the Indian ocean while having breakfast, lunch or even afternoon tea and cocktails. There is a large choice between simple local places as well as classier restaurants along the appr. 6 km cycling path, very stretched out so it is a good idea to rent an ebike for your comfort.
Sanur has a long main street as well, Jl. Tamblingan, where you have a great selection of shops & supermarkets and also plenty of bars and restaurants. International and local cuisine, most restaurants though offer a mixed menu with international and Indonesian food. From very economically priced to very overpriced, the choice is yours! Renting an ebike makes it easier for you to go around Sanur and find that place you will love.
Apart from 1 main street, Sanur has many little side streets, here many hidden gems, cute and unique little restaurants, shops and other businesses wait to be discovered by you while you cycle around Sanur on your ebike.
Make sure to visit Sindhu market, a real local market where people do their daily shopping early in the morning, but, go have a look around 6 pm. That is when you can find a lot of small food stalls with authentic food at local prices. It is basic, sitting on a small plastic chair watching ‘chicken sate’ being grilled or ‘nasi goreng’ being prepared but it is authentic, cheap, and very tasty! A bit far from many hotels so best to rent an ebike to get there and back.
